A rolling skull goes down a lonesome road, searching for it’s scattered bones
Without a body or a memory, of whatever was a home
It heard an echo of a rumour, from unhelpful passing crows
Some scattered pieces of a skeleton, though It might not know it’s own
Haunted by the where-it’s-been, the what-it’s-seen,
the what-it’s-gonna-see
Haunted by the what-it’s-done, the setting sun,
the phantom pains of what-can’t-be-undone
Scatterbones
The Lonesome road is home
So it roams
It’s seen Aurora Borealis, will o’ wisp, and fireflies
It’s seen the borders, nations, armies, when the earth was set on fire
It’s seen the lightning balls, the waterfalls, a heart that’s been condemned
It’s seen the ghost world and the wreckage of a road that never ends
It saw a sign that read that scattered bones will just never be found
It saw an earth and sky that spins forever all along the ground
It heard the wind blow through a scarecrow and it was a lonesome sound
It heard a prophecy that haunted skulls will always roll around
